Suspended Illustration

Sorry to disappoint any enthusiastic readers (there might be one), but work on Talmac has ground to a halt for the time being. I'm going to call an official hiatus while other things are going on, not the least of which is another comics project which, I hope, has legs. Take care.

Experimenting with the art style and online format slightly...

"A Cage For My Heart to Reside In" pages 3 - 10

Here we are; several months and several distractions (creative and otherwise) later... These first ten pages now bring us to a natural resting place in the story.

I may have to reconsider my technique and materials - I've been pencil drawing pages in pairs, on A2 cartridge paper, inking over them and then, in a batch of eight for this round, watercolouring them. The effect is quite nice, but the cartridge paper's not very robust and with my current A4 scanning capacity consequently comes out a little crinkly. Still... enjoyable, I hope, and let me know what you think.

"A Cage For My Heart To Reside In" pages 1 & 2

The first installment of the first story:

I'm quite happy with the rather old-fashioned quality of the illustration, probably a fair bit to do with the style and choice of colouring as well, and I hope you enjoy it.

Where's Talmac? Keep reading to find out!

For future installments I will try to get sharper scans.

Introduction

Greetings! I intend for this blog to be the place to find periodic installments of the comic "The Adventures of Talmac the Syberbarian"; they should be accessible by date of posting and collected under the story heading on the right.

This is a good old-fashioned handdrawn fantasy epic, with princesses, wizards, warlords and the titular barbarian all prizing their own interests above each other's, ranging across a large, diverse mythical world. The story begins in the snow...

I'm Luke, and I write, pencil, ink, paint and letter the comic; I really hope it finds an audience who enjoys it, and if you would like to contact me about the comic or anything in general, please use the link at the top of the page. Thank you for reading.
